OT Victory Sends Hawks to 2nd Round of 3C2As

Bianca Ahumada's goal in the 113th minute sent No. 16-seeded Evergreen Valley College (9-7-5) to a 1-0 overtime victory over No. 17-seeded Merced College (10-8-3) in the first round of the 3C2A Playoffs. It was her second goal of the season.

EVC play top-seeded Lake Tahoe on Saturday, November 23, at Folsom Lake College near Sacramento. Game time is at 1 p.m.

The Hawks are making their ninth consecutive playoff appearance for head coach Felicia Perez.

Ahumada's eventual game-winner was set up by a corner kick from Camilia Abrego, who sent it from the far side of the field to the near side, where Ahumada found it and who sent it to the left of the net. It was Abrego's team-leading eighth assist of the year.

The two teams played to a scoreless tie in regulation on a brisk night in the South Bay, with EVC controlling much of the match on their end of the pitch.

3C2A Playoff tickets can be purchased for $12 for general admission adults, $8 for children under 12, students with a school ID, adults aged 60 and over, faculty, and staff.
