EVC Men's Soccer (15-4-3) came up one match short of the State Finals, falling at No. 2-seeded Hartnell (17-3-4) 1-0 on Saturday afternoon.
The No. 3-seeded Hawks were looking for their second birth in three years into the state's final four. The loss snapped a six-match unbeaten streak and was EVC's first loss in a month.
Hartnell's Ryan Ruiz tallied the match's lone goal, taking a pass from the right side from Kevin Trejo Aviles and scoring in the 37th minute.
The Coast Conference Champions attacked early, seeing both Roberto Martinez and Manalo Joaquin tally strikes in the opening minutes of the match. EVC had a chance to tie the game in the 68th minute, but Brandon Munoz' header off a corner kick was saved.
